But What About Sunday? Wrestling With the Sabbath Shift

If You’re Asking the Question, You’re Not Alone
When people hear that Daniel and I honor Shabbat on Saturday, we often get the same question:
“Wait… are you Jewish?”
The answer is simple: no, we’re followers of Yeshua—Jesus. But we’ve also come to realize that many of us have inherited a rhythm of worship that didn’t come from Scripture... it came from tradition.
This post isn’t about blame. It’s not about arguing doctrine or debating denominations. It’s about honoring the One who said, “Remember the Sabbath and keep it holy.”

But Can’t I Just Choose Any Day?
This is where a lot of voices chime in.
“Pick a day—any day.” “It’s not about which day, it’s about your heart.” “We don’t want to be legalistic.” Or worse: “We’re not Jewish, so we don’t do that.”
But Scripture doesn’t say, “Pick a day.” It says, “The seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God.”
God chose the day. Not because it was convenient. But because it was His.
The Questions That Come with Obedience
Once you start asking questions, the implications come flooding in.
Have I been wrong this whole time?
What about my church? My family? My friends?
Will people think I’m strange?
Does this mean I have to change everything?
Is it a salvational issue?
And maybe the loudest voice of all is your own: “I don’t want to look radical.”
“This is uncomfortable.”
“What will they think?”
Let me gently say this: pause the noise. Yes, you’ll need to think about these questions. But not today. Don’t throw the baby out with the bath water just because the water feels unfamiliar.
My Challenge to You: Try the Experiment
This isn’t about abandoning your church. No one’s asking you to walk away from your community, renounce Christianity, or adopt a new label.
This is an experiment in obedience. One week. One day. One yes.
Just say, “This week, I will remember the Shabbat and keep it set apart to the best of my ability.”
Go to church on Sunday if you want to—no one said you couldn’t. But this week, simply honor the Sabbath as God defined it: the seventh day. Not the one we choose. The one He chose.
And then—watch what happens.
He Will Meet You There
If you commit to honoring the day that He called holy, He will show up in ways that surprise you. You’ll begin to see things with new eyes. You’ll hear His voice more clearly. You’ll start to experience rest—not just in your schedule, but in your soul.
“Test it. Try it. Don’t overthink the implications—just give God your yes, and He will do the rest (literally).”
Shabbat Shalom,
Daniel & Beth
